Our Mission
Our Mission
Our Long Term Goals
Harlem Lacrosse & Leadership (HLL) is a youth organization that builds leadership skills and social responsibility through lacrosse. We provide a safe and structured setting for our players as we guide them both on and off the field through coaching, mentoring and academic intervention. Broadening players’ experiences and skill sets prepares them to become effective leaders in the Harlem community.
Our Core Beliefs
HLL players will have successful academic, behavioral, and athletic careers in elementary school, middle school, high school, and beyond. We aim to help the players develop into confident leaders within their communities.
HLL hopes to extend its programming to ultimately serve children in grades 3-12, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, sex, or academic and behavioral challenges.
1)All children deserve effective after school programming.
2)Children with behavioral and academic difficulties deserve and require after school support as they work to meet their full potential.
3)Lacrosse is the perfect vehicle for developing life skills and leadership among youth. Teamwork, communication, dedication, and perseverance are among the many qualities that are fostered through participation in the sport. Additionally, the game’s ties to the university system and the recognized yet unfulfilled potential of lacrosse in low-income urban areas make lacrosse an optimal extracurricular activity for youth seeking opportunities outside of their community.
